Simplifying the complex.

Re-branding Australia’s most trusted Data security specialists.

The client

Cybersecure provide data security and back up services to Australia’s most respected organisations and institutions. Much revered and trusted in the industry, Cybersecure’s knowledge and expertise is unrivaled.

They work directly with B2B resellers and IT partners as suppliers, and also directly with large organizations and companies as data security managers.

CS offer services and a growing range of physical hardware solutions which are intrinsically linked to provide the ultimate security solutions.

The problem

With a new services and new products range ready for launch, and data security rapidly moving into the psyche of the mainstream, Cybersecure’s existing communications no longer spoke to their long-term vision or extensive range of new offerings.

CS needed to communicate their holistic offering more clearly to defined audiences, specifically B2B partners. The tone, language style and clearly defined levels of information hierarchy required immediate attention.

The branding which in our clients eyes was “too corporate” also required a ground up rebrand, including application to internal portals, proposal templates and external facing comms and digital applications.

Our solution

To simplify the complex.

Our mission was to provide cybersecure with new brand systems that spoke directly to its target markets, In a language and aesthetic that was inspired by the digital world in which they work.

To provide CS with a new copywriting and language style that simplified the complex, and was informative, yet unapologetic in its tone.

To deliver existing and prospective CS clients “easy gets” bite sized information that was much simpler to understand and easier to digest.

The inspiration

Under the direction of our client, Cybersecure wanted to remain firmly in the digital, dark mode work of coding and digital technology - after all this where they do their best work. After supplying their responses to our branding questionnaire, We knew the new look and approach would be heavily Inspired in equal parts by retro-futuristic sci-fi films of the 80s and original ASCII coding aesthetics. Blade runner. Die hard. The Terminator. These were all on our mood boards.

Brand suite

After months of exploration and refinement, a simple yet effective marque was selected. It’s confident, contemporary, interlocking C’s to create a CS monogram that speaks to locking in and working together to create enhanced security experience. The marque is trustworthy and without feeling elitist. It strategically lands In the sweet spot of speaking to both their target markets - Tech enough for internal IT managers, and professional enough to attract larger corporates who may engage in their services directly.

The Typeface

Inspired by the ascii coding aesthetic, we used a mono space sans serif, but with a contemporary twist. After exploring various potential suitors, we selected a typeface designed by the Klim type foundry, with subtle details that allowed the type to be as equally striking as a headline and display font as it was practical at smaller sizes.

Physical platforms Icon suite

Cybersecure not only offer not only highly secure cloud based solutions, but pride themselves on their proprietary hardware solutions. With a registered naming system in place, our task was to create a unique icon library for each, so customers could easily, at a quick glance, know exactly what platform was being used or discussed.

Once again, ascii coding inspired our direction and the icons were ultimately selected form keyboard characters within our hero typeface. This clever solution also allowed out client to “type” the logos when required or when communicating with themselves on chat boards.

The language style and tone

Modular templating and new comms systems

One of the major components of the rebrand, was to help guide and direct new and existing customers through the vast number of products and services offered by cybersecure.

New naming and colour coding systems were introduced, with the offerings now clearly defined under our new hero brand architecture systems - cybersecure platforms and cybersecure services.

Further to this, we workshopped various ways I which CS could communicate exactly what each service and platform offers using a visual based system. The solution was a modular communication toolkit, supplied as live templates that could be easily managed internally.

The modules could be interchanged as required, resulting a consistent and harmonious aesthetic, designed specifically for clear communication and “easy-gets” for their clients.
